Next you can add fun colors to certain parts of the screencap! This is usually done on the hair, clothes, face/makeup, etc. Personally I like to color them myself, and here’s a tutorial on how I color screencaps :) You can either add a PSD ( here’s a navigation page for all the PSDs I reblog) or color it yourself. Now it’s time for the fun parts! Or at least I find them fun lol. Once you like your cropping, press enter. If the person in the screencap isn’t touching the edges of it of the corners, you can extend the empty space by doing that. You can click and drag on the corners of the cropping window thing, and make it bigger or smaller. Now I click and drag on my photo to start the cropping. Now it’s time to crop it! The way I do this is with the cropping tool. (note: what I don’t like about this method is that it’s harder to change the background color later if you change your mind or want multiple background color versions like I do!) Option C: Make a new empty layer, select the paint brush tool, and paint around the person with the color you want.Option B: Exactly like option A, but instead of using the quick selection tool, you use the “magnetic lasso tool”.Other ways of cutting out the background: This makes your selection into its own layer! Now click the eyeball symbol next to the background layer to make it invisible. Now (with a selection tool still selected) you can right click on your selection and click “layer via copy”. These are the settings I use, but you can mess around with it until you like what you see. Then, with the quick selection tool still selected, go to the top bar and click the button that says “select and mask”.Ī window will pop up! This is a way to smooth/blur/sharpen the edges of your selection. Or you can select the background, and then right click and click “inverse selection” and that will make the person selected! Now use that tool to select the person/people you want to keep. Once your screencap is open in PS, select the “quick selection” tool. Option A: Use the quick selection tool (this is what I use) Step three: Cut the background out (various methods) Step two: Open the screencap in Photoshop I’m using this screencap from Riverdale S01E01 that I found on : You can also screencap your own using KMplayer. Other ones can still work, but I’m lazy so I like them better! When choosing, it’s important to keep in mind that you’ll be cutting out the background, so screencaps that have the person/people on a solid (or almost solid) background are the easiest. You can always make your screencap smaller, but not bigger!įirst you have to choose your screencaps.Don’t screw up the proportions when cropping. The tutorial is under the cut! Have fun ♥ Cut the background out (I’ll show multiple methods). And tag me if you post your icons, I’d love to see them :D Let me know if you have any questions here! I’m happy to help if I can. I use Photoshop CC, but I think any version of PS will do. So here it is! Please like/reblog if this helped at all! Hi! A sweet anon asked me to make a tutorial on how I make my icons.
